Five Maithili contributors honoured

Kathmandu, 29 November (2020) - On the occasion of the memorial day of Matihili Mahakabi Bidyapati, five personalities making significant contribution to Maithili, language, art, culture and journalism were honoured.
At the function held at Maithili Bhawan on Saturday, historian and writer Prof Dr Pitamber Lal Yadav was honoured with the Shiva Dutta Mishra memorial prize. The prize carries a purse of Rs. 7,501.
Likewise, the Bibeka Laxmi Maithili Journalism prize was given to editor of Mithila weekly Devendra Mishra. It carries a purse of Rs. 5,005. Poet Punam Thakur was honoured with the Shobha Dev memorial Maithili prize carrying a purse of Rs. 5,005.
Furthermore, singers Sunita Jha and Kanchan Jha won the Bijayendra Binod art and culture prize, along with Rs. 1,505 in cash.
