Senior Advocate Shrestha requests convening of SC grand bench to hear petitions
Kathmandu, 6 January (2021) - Senior Advocate Raman Shrestha requested for convening a grand bench to hear writ petitions against dissolution of House of Representatives.
Taking part in the preliminary arguments during the hearing at the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court of Nepal on Wednesday, Shrestha said that constitutional dispute needs to be settled through grand bench.
Constitutional bench is comprised of five justices including Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana. It has started hearing writ petitions from today.
Shrestha, who is former Attorney General and Senior Advocate, argued that disbanding of parliament is unconstitutional.
Twelve writ petitions have been filed at the SC against President Bidya Devi Bhandari's move to dissolve House of Representatives.
