Kathmandu, 11 February (2021) - The police have arrested leader of Dahal-Nepal faction of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Ram Kumari Jhakri from her house in Shankhamul on Thursday.

She was handed an arrest warrant at 12:40 pm in the charge of slandering the President and committing crime against state.

The police had called Jhakri for questioning about her statements against President Bidya Devi Bhandari. When she refused to heed the police's call they reached her home to arrest her.

Jhakri insisted that she would not willingly go to the police office. Deputy Superintendent of Police Sudhir Shahi went inside Jhakri's house and handed her the arrest warrant.

Previously Jhakri had said in a programme in Gorkha district," What to say about the President? I want to convey a message to Her Highness, leave all the facilities in Sheetal Niwas and come to Koteshwor first. I have heard that you live in Chabahil or Baneshwor. Otherwise you can go to Balkot. From which district would you contest the elections? Give me a message, I shall prevail over you."

Yesterday while addressing a protest gathering in Kathmandu, Jhakri said that a person in public post is gender-neutral and he or she can be subjected to criticism.
