Thapa wins golf trophy
Kathmandu, 19 December (2021) - Ranadeep Thapa won the third edition of Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here on Saturday. Thapa playing with 18 handicap scored four-under 68 to win by one-stroke over Purna Man Shakya who turned in a card of three-under 69 nett, he finished runner-up. Chandra Limbu was third with the score of even-par 72 nett.
Robin Rana scored nine-over 81 to win the best gross title. Total of 30 golfers took part in a tournament played under stroke-play format with full handicap. Captain of the club Joseph Nathan gave away the prize to the winners of the tournament sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
After the third edition, Ranadeep Thapa, Karna Thapa, Babu Sherpa and Purna B. Rai are tied with 100 points for the club championship leaderboard of nett section. Robin Rana is fifth with 75 points. Purna Man Shakya is sixth with 65. Dhundul Namgyal and Tendi Sherpa are tied seventh with 60 points. Charlie Gurung is ninth with 45 points and Chandra Gurung and Rabin Phuyal are tied 10th with 40 points.
On the gross section Sadbhav Acharya is leading with 120 points, Vijay Shrestha Einhaus, Surendra Phuyal and Robin Rana are tied second with 100 points and Wangchen Dhondup is fifth 95 points.
Total of 10 medal rounds will be played before selecting top 40 from nett section and top 20 from gross section for the final two rounds to decide the club champion on nett and gross category.
