Maoist Centre warns to quit government on MCC issue
Kathmandu, 16 February (2022) - CPN-Maoist Centre, one of the partners in the incumbent alliance, has warned that it will quit the government if the controversial Millennium Challenge Compact (MCC) is taken ahead in its current form.
The parliamentary party meeting at Singha Durbar on Wednesday decided that MCC cannot be ratified through the parliament unless provisions against national interests are removed.
"MCC cannot be passed in status quo without amending the provisions that are against national interest. We have decided to vote against the ratification motion," CPN-Maoist parliamentary party chief whip Dev Gurung said after the meeting.
He clearly said that the party will quit government of MCC is moved ahead without amendments.
