Ninth National Games: Participant Thapamagar dies after falling off craft
Pokhara, 16 October (2022) - An athlete Nishim Thapamagar, who participated in the ongoing Ninth National Games, has died after the glider he was flying as part of the sport met with an accident.
As a result, all today-scheduled sports in paragliding under the national games have been cancelled, it has been informed. The accident took place today morning at Sarangkot in Pokhara Metropolitan City-18, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Sundar Tiwari. He took part in the competition from the Nepali Army in men's cross country paragliding. "He flew from Sarangkot in Pokhara. Shortly, his aircraft collapsed and hit an under-construction building at Sarangkot in Pokhara-18. He died as a result," said an eyewitness.
Thapamagar, 26, originally from Palungtar in Gorkha district, currently living in Pokhara-10, was involved in paragliding for long. His body was kept at Metro Hospital in Pokhara-8.
