CK Raut observes moment of silence on parliament rostrum
Kathmandu, 19 January (2023) - Janamat Party Chairman CK Raut has observed a moment of silence on the rostrum before discussing about the candidate for the post of Speaker.
Remembering Madhesh Movement that began of Magh 5, Raut took out a moment for silence from the five minutes of time allotted to him.
Minister of Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane as well as Nepali Congress and Janata Samajwadi Party leaders rose from their seat to observe moment of silence on Raut's call.
"For how long should be celebrate the rulers' day? When shall we celebrate sacrifice day across the country? Will the nation honour the martyrs of Madhesh Movement?" Raut asked.
"Does your party support us on sacrifice day? We'll decide whether to support speaker after that," he added.
Saying this, Raut looked at his watch and started the moment of silence.
This is the first time a moment of silence has been observed in parliament rostrum.
Voting for the new Speaker will take take today.
