Government announces feasibility study of opium farming for medicinal use
Kathmandu, 29 May (2023) - The government has announced the feasibility study of opium farming for medicinal purposes for the next fiscal.
While making public the annual budget 2023/24 in the joint parliament meeting on Monday, Minister of Finance Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat announced the plan for feasibility study.
Different parliamentarians had been raising voices to legalize opium farming.
Members of Parliament (MPs) thumped the table to support the announcement of the opium farming feasibility study.
Mahat laughed after listening to the thumping of the table. MPs also burst into laughter after Mahat's expression of mirth.
