PM loses vote of confidence
Kathmandu, 10 May (2021) - Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has lost vote of confidence on Monday. With this, the PM's post is vacant.
The parliament meeting today was convened for the casting of votes after the PM called for vote of confidence.
A total of 232 members of parliament were present in today's meeting. PM Oli got 93 votes in his favour while 124 votes went against him.
Fifteen members of parliament from Janata Samajwadi Party belong to Mahantha Thakur faction remained neutral. MPs from Jhal Nath Khanal-Madhav Kumar Nepal faction of CPN (UML) did not attend the meeting.
The constitution's Article 77 (1) (b) provides for automatic removal of the PM if s/he fails to get vote of confidence.
