Sabin and Rihana Clinch Yonex Sunrise Eenas Sub-Junior Challenge Cup Badminton Titles

Kathmandu, 14 Jan (2024) : Subin Shrestha from Tribhuvan Army Club of Nepal Army and Rihana Sherchan won the title for U-15 men and women in the 2nd Yonex Sunrise Eenas Sub-Junior Challenge Cup National Badminton Tournament-2080 held in Kathmandu.

Subin won the title by defeating Army's Sudesh Rajkoti by 21-15, 21-10, and Rihana made it by defeating Mohan Bhugol Badminton Foundation's Niva Rai by 21-12, 21-10 in the final match. The winning players received 10 thousand in cash, medals, trophies, and certificates.

The runner-up players received 5 thousand in cash along with a medal, certificate, and trophy.

On the men's side, Shishir Rana from Kailali and Satyam Karki from Dhanyantari secured the third position. Deepak Badminton Academy's Ashmita Khatri and IBSC's Tisha Rani Shakya were third on the women's side. They received 25 hundred in cash, medals, trophies, and certificates.

In the U13 male category, Army's Sudesh Rajkoti and in the female category, Niva Rai of Mohan Bhugol Badminton Foundation received 10 thousand in cash along with the title. Sudesh defeated Sadeep Rai representing Sports Hub by 21-16, 21-13, and Niva defeated Raksha Fagmi from Kaski by 21-19, 21-12.

The second-placed players received 5 thousand in cash, medals, certificates, and trophies. On the men's side, Safal Bhujel from Tanahu, Arush Simkhada from APF, and on the girl's side, Samriddhi Shrestha from the Army and Ashmita Khatri from Deepak Badminton Academy were in the third place. They also received medals, trophies, certificates, along with a cash prize.

Similarly, in the U11 category, Saksham Gurung from Kaski defeated Virat Basnet from Kapilvastu by 23-21, 21-10, and received a medal and 10 thousand in cash along with a certificate of the title. Basnet received a 5 thousand cash prize. Army's Dip Thing and Mahabuddha Club's Aarabh Shakya were in the third position. The third-placed players received medals, certificates, and trophies along with a cash prize.

Suryalal Bhandari, member secretary of Bagmati Province Sports Development Council, Subhash Shrestha, former board member of the National Sports Council, Tilak Pandey, treasurer of Nepal Badminton Association, Sudhir Subedi from Nepal APF Club, badminton coach Kiran Thapa, Rudra Thing coordinator of Bagmati Pradesh Badminton Association, social worker Narayan Sapkota, editor of lokaantar.com Bimal Gautam, and others distributed the awards.

Similarly, Raju Bastola, Proprietor of Eenas, provided the Yonex materials such as jackets, bags, t-shirts, and sports equipment to the players.
