Exciting Kickoff for Yonex Sunrise Eenas Sub-Junior Challenge Cup Badminton Tournament in Kathmandu

Kathmandu, 11 Jan (2024) : The second Yonex Sunrise Eenas Sub-Junior Challenge Cup National Badminton Tournament-2080 started on Thursday at Manmaiju in Kathmandu. The tournament was organized by Eenas Enterprises, the official seller of Yonex and a sports equipment manufacturer for Nepal.

According to the organizers, U-15, U-13, and U-11 boys and girls are competing in the tournament sponsored by Yonex Sunrise Eenas. The tournament, which began on Thursday, is being held in the covered hall of Deepak Badminton Academy in Manmaiju until January 14th, 2024.

The organizers said that about 127 players from all over the country will participate in the competition, including 35 students. The number of participants is 6, including 1 female student from the Koshi province. Similarly, 12 people, including 1 girl student, are participating from Gandaki, 4 participants from Lumbini, and 5 from Sudurpaschim Province.

The organizers mentioned that 94 players are from Kathmandu, Bagmati. Players from various clubs and schools in Kathmandu have also participated in the competition.

On an occasion, Member-Secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC) Tanklal Ghising and the head of the organizer Eenas Enterprises Raju Bastola inaugurated the competition on January 14th. In the event, Bastola, the head of the organizer Eenas Enterprises, requested Member-Secretary Ghising to provide a hall and facilitation for the badminton tournament. 'It would be easier for everyone if we had our own hall for organizing the badminton tournament,' he said.

Member-secretary Ghising mentioned that convenient badminton halls have been built in Itahari and Jumla, where he claimed that international level competitions can be organized. 'Itahari's hall owned by the council is useful for games. I went to Jumla and found the same there,' he said, focusing on the development of badminton sports.

Sixty-six players participated in the first-round match on Thursday, and 33 people have managed to enter the second round of the competition. The media partner of the tournament is Lokantar Sanchar Pvt Ltd (Lokantar.com).
