Kathmandu, 29 December (2021) - Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police has arrested Rambahadur Malla, 31, a Youtuber with 'Sathibhai Online TV' channel.

Bureau Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nabindra Aryal informed that Malla, hailing from Nishikhola Rural Municipality-1 Baglung district, has been remanded in custody for five days for investigation.

"We have arrested him for violating social decency," SSP Aryal told Lokantar. "We are investigating the case as the court gave five more days for remand."

Why was he arrested?

Sathibhai Online TV YouTube channel has more than 100 videos. The channel is subscribed by more than 117,000 people.

The videos and their titles are so vulgar that one cannot watch them with family members.

Malla has made obscene videos with different young women using innuendoes and explicit words under the pretext of pranks.

The same woman features in more than one video. Same dress and location makes it obvious that the videos were shot in a single day.

In the video, Malla has made vulgar and indecent interactions with young women. He asks questions such as, "Should I unzip the pant and show it?", "What is there between two legs?", "Please disrobe".

Some of the titles of the videos are not even fit for print.

One video that generated 116,000 views shows a girl being grabbed from behind and about to be undressed.

An early clip in the video shows a man grabbing a woman and saying, "I want to devour you." That clip repeats in the video.

The entire video is made using suggestive and obscene language.

Blackmailing through videos

"It is found that Malla has been filming the videos of young women by promising them to make models," the police officer in charge of investigation told Lokantar. "It has also caused problems in their family."

Nepal's constitution guarantees the right to live with dignity. Everyone has the right to personal privacy.

However, in order to earn dollars, YouTubers are flouting the provisions of the constitution.

Bureau Spokesperson SSP Navindra Aryal said that YouTubers making indecent videos have been arrested on the initiative of the Police Headquarters and brought under the purview of law under the direction of the Home Ministry.

"On the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Police Headquarters, we have been arresting YouTubers causing society indecency," SSP Aryal told Lokantar. "We are arresting YouTubers who use words prohibited by law."
