CPN (Maoist Centre) picks five as party candidates for NA elections

Kathmandu, 4 January (2022) - The ruling partner CPN (Maoist Centre) has finalized the name of party candidates for the upcoming election of the National Assembly (NA) members.  Earlier, the Central Working Committee meeting of the party held on Monday handed the responsibility of finalizing the name list of candidates to party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

 According to the party Chair’s Secretariat, Urmila Aryal (Province 2), Suresh Ale Magar from other group and Bharat Sunar from Dalit quota (Gandaki), Nar Bahadur Bista from persons with disabilities (Karnali Province) and Jagat Parki towards Dalit quota (Sudurpaschim) have been picked up as party candidates for the Upper House election taking place on January 26.

The election is being held for those posts turning vacant in the first week of March with the termination of the term of a section of members. 

The Election Commission has scheduled the candidacy nomination programme for the elections in 19 seats today while one member will be nominated by the President.

Ruling partners are preparing to present a common candidate and filing the nominations collectively. The meeting of coalition partners on Monday morning had agreed to go in the election on the seat-sharing basis.
