IDPD: wheelchair basketball tournament held
Nawalparasi, 4 December (2022) - On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), a friendly basketball competition between wheelchair users has been held in Debchuli municipality of Nawalparasi (Bardghat Susta east).
Wheelchair users from Debchuli and Pokhara took part in the event. Divided into two groups of five each, players using wheelchairs competed in the basketball match. In the friendly competition, Pokhara group defeated Debchuli group.
President of Dhaulagiri PWDs Advancement Association, Debchuli, Ghanshyam Subedi, said that the competition was organized to show that wheelchair users are capable like normal people and play games. We hope that the event will encourage the relevant authorities to organize similar events to boost the people with disabilities' participation in sports.
Mayor of Debchuli Municipality, Hariprasad Neupane, expressed the commitment to always be at the forefront for the rights of the people with disabilities. We are committed to provide skills and opportunities along with disability-friendly services.
