Kathmandu, 5 February (2023) - Rastriya Swatantra Party under the leadership of Rabi Lamichhane has quitted the government Sunday.

The party is one of the coalition partners in the incumbent government and it left after just 42 days in power.

Joint meeting of central Committee and parliamentary party decided to quit government accusing the prime minister of failing to steer the coalition in good spirits.

But the party will continue supporting the government.

Lamichhane had lost the post of Minister of Home Affairs after the Supreme Court declared his citizenship to be invalid. He immediately obtained a new citizenship card but PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" was reluctant to reinstate him as the Home Minister.

PM's stance had made Lamichhane dissatisfied ultimately leading to his party's quit from government.
