Kathmandu, 8 February (2023) - Common people think that meditation consumes long hours.

But Dr. Bijaya Bajracharya of Lalitpur district has been teaching people a meditation technique that takes just three minutes.

He has been teaching this technique with the title of "The Way of Life" for the last two decades.

Dr. Bajracharya installed a statue of Lord Buddha at a natural forest in Godavari, Lalitpur in 2002 and started the meditation campaign under Shanti Ban Abhiyan (Peace Forest Campaign).

Shanti Ban has been institutionalized with expansion in Dhulikhel, Kavre and Lumbini as well.

Dr. Bajracharya said that he started teaching short meditation technique keeping with the times and considering people's hurried lifestyle.

"Many things have changed in comparison to the past," he said. "People have been living a busy life. I started to teach three minutes of meditation considering people's busy time."

He says that meditation does not depend on any length of time.

Why is meditation necessary?

Modern people seem busy all the time. They have been living a life of constant engagement. People's lifestyle is more and more mismanaged due to this busyness.

People are tense and irritated because of increasing preoccupation and mismanaged lifestyle. Meditation gurus say that meditation is essential for tension-free life and calm mind.

Dr. Bajracharya says that meditation is important to remove anger, jealousy and avarice in order to live a peaceful life. He says that meditation is important to remove negative emotions and calm the mind.

Dr. Bajracharya says, "Meditation is a source that energizes body, mind and brain."

How to accomplish three minutes of meditation?

Three-minute meditation can be done anytime and anywhere. Dr. Bajracharya says that this meditation can be initiated at home, office or even among crowd.

But it is essential to make your spinal cord straight while doing this meditation.

"Good meditation is not possible unless you straighten your spinal cord," he says. "Then you have to touch your forefinger and thumb. This touch energizes the brain. We can reach the state of meditation with this energy."

Enabling one to live 120 years of life

Dr. Bajracharya says that the purpose of his meditation technique is to enable a person to live more than 120 years of life.

"It's another matter if someone says that they have become old and now they entrust their life to god," Dr. Bajracharya says. "But a long life is possible if we maintain our body, mind and brain. We can live for more than 120 years if we have a tension-free life."

He says that his goal of everyone having a long life is possible if people believe in interdependence.

Dr. Bajracharya provides an example of chain to make his point. He says, "A chain is not made of a single piece. Only a piece in a chain does not mean anything. All pieces are to be joined in order to make a chain. We can live a chain-life if we join ourselves with others."

Being born as a human being is the biggest fortune

Everyone should understand that it is the biggest fortune to be born as a human being,  Dr. Bajracharya says.

"I hear some people saying that they are unfortunate," he says. "But everyone should understand that being born as a human being is the biggest fortune. Our time is precious. We should understand that even one minute of our life is a fortunate time."

He says that a person becomes successful with positive thinking.
