Fake refugee scam: accused Sandeep Rayamajhi remanded to 3 days of custody
Kathmandu, 4 May (2023) - Kathmandu District Court has remanded CPN-UML Secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi's son Sandeep for three days of police custody.
Sandeep will remain in custody while the police investigate fake refugee scam in which he is implicated.
He was arrested in Butwal on Wednesday.
Sandeep has been accused of taking money from people to make them fake Bhutani refugees to be sent to the US.
The police have found a cheque with the amount of 15 million rupees on Sandeep's name.
Arrest warrant has been issued against Sandeep's father Top Bahadur in this case.
Previously, the police had arrested Indrajit Rai who was security advisor to former Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa "Badal". The then Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey has also been arrested in the same case.
