Chaudhary released from jail with getting pardoned over Tikapur incident
Kathmandu, 29 May (2023) - Resham Lal Chaudhary, the convict in the Tikapur incident that ended in the deaths of eight police personnel and a minor, has been released from a jail with President Ramchandra Paudel granting him pardon on the occasion of the Republic Day today.
Following his release from the local Dillibazar-based Sadarkhor (prison), he, the leader of Nagarik Unmukti Party, reached Maitighar Mandala to meet party cadres before moving to Kailali.
The former radio journalist was handed down a life sentence in connection with the incident dating back to August 24, 2015.
As per the recommendations of the Council of Ministers on May 27 and 28, the President granted pardon to 19 inmates including Chaudhary of their remaining jail terms.
