Kathmandu, 20 November (2019) - Two chairmen of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have allocated their duties as per the previous agreement.

Following the agreement made at the time of the merger of then CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre), one chairman will lead the government while the other will run the party.

NCP Secretariat meeting at Baluwatar on Wednesday decided to allow PM KP Sharma Oli to lead the government for the full tenure while Pushpa Kamal Dahal "Prachanda" will be executive chairman of the party, Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha informed the reporters.

"Ranks of both the chairmen will remain the same," Spokesperson Shrestha said after the meeting. "Chairman Oli will focus on leading the government as the prime minister while Chairman Prachanda will focus on party operations."

Both the chairmen will jointly chair the meeting while Chairman Prachanda will conduct the meeting, Shrestha said.

Both the government and the party will function with agreement between two chairmen, he stated.

Secretariat meeting was expected to decide cabinet reshuffle. But it did not take any decision on that, Shrestha said.

Stating that cabinet reshuffle falls under PM's jurisdiction, he said that the PM will take a decision on this matter at the earliest.
